YoRMa in mourning as Algy Ward - ex-bass player of The Damned - pops off to the great gig in the sky

The flag is at half mast at Lizard Towers as the sad news breaks that Algy Ward - bass player of The Saints, The Damned, and founder of Tank - has bought the farm and trundled off to join the choir invisibule. The bloody flag may as well stay there - such is the ongoing rate of carnage in the music industry - reflecting as it does a similar carnage in wider populations that is directly proportional to uptake of a certain dodgy experimental....erm... treatment - over the last couple of years - that any touring rock bands were basically obliged to comply with or remain in their home nations. We won't bang on about suspected underlying causes of this death splurge though (although we have wrote a song or two about it), because - of course! - we have already been reliably informed by various "experts" that it's basically anything but the fucking stunningly obvious thing staring us in the face causing it - so that's alright then - carry on peasants - nothing to see here!

Back to Algy though. We have lost a number of fine rythm section maestros in recent months with The Smiths, Pulp, Foo Fighters and Dead Kennedys among those recently bereaved - but the Damned have a special place in our hearts here at Lizard Towers. Basically when YoRMa was first being formed the interview process went something like this:

Question: So are you up for playing The Damned then?

Answer: No

Response: Well Fuck Off then!

Early YoRMa sessions featured the Damned classic - Love Song - with it's thunderous Algy Ward bass line - but we won't share that one. Nah - EVERY fucker will be doing that! So in tribute to the disingenuous cunts that pretend there's nothing even slightly suspicious as the carnage continues to unfold we are sharing here an excellent track off the Damned's classic album Machine Gun Etiquette: LIAR. It features a brilliant Algy Ward bass line with the added bonus of free Damned "lyric bingo" to induge in as all peasants proles and lowly human filth are invited to venture a guess as to what the fuck Dave Vanian is actually on about.

We will start the ball rolling with a guess for the lyric at 48 seconds in:

"I love spending hours watching the television - so perchance I can learn to fool like a crazy politician"

Probably bugger all like it but sort of makes sense.
